As Carinthia's oldest private brewery with 750 years of tradition, we are fully dedicated to our craft – all the more so in our anniversary year.
2020 was a very special year for us. A year in which we celebrated the real thing.
With our 750 years of history, our brewery is one of the oldest private breweries in Austria and was first mentioned in a document in 1270 in the property and plant register of the Gurk cathedral chapter.
The still independently run family business is inextricably linked to the place that gives it its name. People from the surrounding area work here. This keeps value creation and jobs in the region.
In addition to the highest quality, regionality also plays an important role in the raw materials. As a rule, only barley produced in Austria is used. The barley for our Märzen comes from Carinthia and grows right outside the gates of the brewery.

We use only the highest quality and treat all our products with care. The barley for our Hirt Märzen, for example, comes from the neighbouring Krappfeld. And the water we use for brewing is sourced from our own springs: the purest mountain spring water, so perfectly constituted that we don't even need to treat it.
